Israel and Russia have broad cultural ties that should develop actively, Israeli Minister of Education, Culture and Sport Limor Livnat said in an interview with Itar-Tass on the eve of her visit to Moscow.
Livnat arrives in Russia on Tuesday for a two-day visit at the invitation of Russian Culture Minister Mikhail Shvydkoi.
During the visit that will last until October 9, the Israeli minister will attend the opening of a premiere performance of an Israeli theatre troupe, whose tour of Russia will last for a week.
More than a million Russian-speaking immigrants have come from Russia and other former Soviet republics into Israel over the past 10-12 years. This could not help having an effect on Israeli culture, the minister said.
Israel and Russia have great mutual interest, she noted.
