Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) General Council Chairman Josef Zisels held a number of meetings in Georgia concerning the implementation of EAJC projects. The meetings involved partners and representatives of the Georgian government.

On June 11, a round table took place in Kyiv, titled “Developing a Method of Open Cooperation Between the Government and Civil Society on Preventing Right Extremism.” The event was organized by the Ukrainian representative office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner, and the Ukrainian representative office of the International Organization for Migration.

The Russian Ambassador to Bulgaria Yuri Isakov has awarded the Pushkin Medal to Bulgarian writer Angel Wagenstein and to the President of the Shalom Organization of Jews in Bulgaria Maxim Benvenisti for their great contribution to strengthening and developing the friendship and cooperation with Russia.

On June 2-4, a delegation of representatives of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) led by EAJC General Council Chairman Josef Zisels participated in the Global Forum of the American Jewish Committee – an annual congress traditionally taking place in Washington.

On May 20-27, the Israeli scholar Dr. Arkadi Zeltser, a Yad-Vashem reprentative, read a mini-course titled “Jews in Ukraine in Context of USSR Social Life Between the Wars” at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. The course was organized with Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) support.

On June 5, the Secretary General of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, Vice President of the World Jewish Congress Michael Chlenov participated in a ceremony commemorating the Hungarian Jews who were victims of Nazism. The ceremony took place at the memorial military cemetery at the Rudkino village of Voronezhskaya Oblast.

On May 5-7, the XIV Plenary Assembly of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) took place in Budapest (Hungary), Over 500 delegates representing over 70 countries participated in the Assembly.
